My name is Fatou Silimana and I’m a Public Health Science major attending the University of Maryland College Park. I studied abroad at Khon Kaen University in Thailand. My time there has been an enriching blend of cultural immersion, hands-on learning, and personal growth. I’ve had the opportunity to explore the Thai healthcare system and engage with local communities, enhancing my understanding of global health. A fun fact about Khon Kaen, Thailand is that its home to the Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum. It’s where some of the first dinosaur fossils in Thailand were discovered.

Tiana Lam

University

Home University: University of Nevada, Reno

Major: International

Business

Hello, my name is Tiana Lam and I am currently a upcoming freshman at the University of Nevada, Reno. I am a International Business major with a focus in marketing. I am someone who has always been interested in traveling and studying abroad. It is my goal to go backpacking one day because I love learning new cultures, customs, and languages. In the future, I hope to be able to work abroad as well. During my time at Korea University, I was able to meet so many new people and experience once in a life time memories that I will never forget. Though I do have some regrets, this trip has made me realize I do want to travel and see the world more. (If ever planning to go, remember that July is Korea’s monsoon season so bring a raincoat and some boots!)

Prae (Florence) Mo

Abroad University: Khon

Kaen University

Home University: Berea College

Major: Nursing

Sawat Dee Kha! My name is Prae Mo, a rising senior at Berea College, aspiring to become a pediatric travel nurse. This summer, I participated in the USAC Khon Kaen Program in Thailand, where I reconnected with my birthplace and explored its rich culture. My internship at a local orphanage and child care center deepened my passion for serving children. Thailand celebrates its New Year in April with “Songkran,” a nationwide water festival. Though I missed it, it’s a unique and joyous tradition that embodies the spirit of the country.
