Lin Yuejun Lang Asia Scholarship

For more about the background of this scholarship and why we created it, read our USAC blog post.

Students enrolled in a summer USAC in-person Asia program, from any university or college, may apply for this scholarship. Slight preference will be given to students who plan to attend a China program. There is no minimum GPA requirement to apply for this scholarship, although students must meet minimum GPA requirements as designed by their USAC program.

Two scholarships in the amount of $1,600 or four scholarships in the amount of $800 each will be offered each summer. This scholarship will be applied toward a student’s USAC balance, which may include items such as tuition, optional program components and housing; however, the scholarship funds cannot be used to pay the initial $100 application fee or $500 confirmation deposit payment.

In the event that a student is awarded but is then unable to attend their in-person study abroad program as planned due to external factors (as defined by home university travel restrictions/program or country borders closed, or similar, excluding personal/family circumstances) or due to program suspension/format change, adjustments can be made to award disbursement. First, the student may first select a new program within Asia in which to study abroad during the same term as originally awarded. If this is not a viable option, then the student may then select a new program outside of Asia in which to study abroad during the same term as originally awarded. If this is not a viable option, then the student may defer or “roll” their scholarship into the next available terms (fall, spring, summer). Deferment shall not exceed one year past the original awarding timeframe.

Applications are due on USAC’s deadline for summer program scholarships.

Application Components

Students will have to submit essay questions on USAC’s portal, as well as all required supplementary materials.
